Lidl x 2 Wines

Favourites from a recent wine club tasting of Lidl wines include the Champagne from Bissinger which is a premier cru and tastes like one too with some toasty notes, a fresh finish and persistent bubbles. Good value for €26.99. Good to bring as a gift; I hope someone brings me a bottle.

Another hit of the night was Medici Riccardi Bolgheri 2012. Lovely dark, ripe fruits with some spiciness makes it well suited for the combination of turkey and ham and all the trimmings, which is a complex blend of sweet and savory foods, especially if you have cranberry sauce (one to ease off on if you really want to enjoy wine, especially a heavy white). It’s not easy to get a good match. Another good one to bring as a gift for those who know their stuff. €19.99
