Coal Quay Market Cork

Simone Crotty hard at work in the cold in her happy hat serving delicious winter salads and a spicy, hot chickpea soup and top rate hummus. Despite the weather, the market is vigorous these days, with Caroline Robinson and Patrick Frankel and friends  as always providing fresh veg from their farms. Colin has wonderful salamis, frozen meat and some vegetables, Alan and Adrienne import the best bananas, oranges and avocados, the O’Driscolls the freshest fish caught locally near Schull, and The Odd Couple has terrific Italian handmade cheeses. All the bakery stalls are well worth a visit. Every stall has something worth trying. Support local producers. We need to make sure they survive the winter. IMG00257-20121201-1300
